As it was guessed yesterday, running back Larry Johnson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as a backup, an insurance policy in case of injury, as described by Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis yesterday.
It seemed that the running back would have his career up-and-running soon after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs for using some gay slur. Lewis has said that it was possible for Larry to ply in some form this Sunday in Bengals’ game against the Oakland Raiders if starter Cedric Benson is still limited by a strained hip.
Even already knowing that he would be only listed as fourth on the depth chart to start, Johnson still decided to put on the Bengals jersey, perhaps because he was expecting to play against the team released him despite his on-field performance, as the Bengals will play against the Chiefs on Dec. 27 at Paul Brown Stadium.
